You may have heard how nature creates the well-known material marble. It starts with limestone transformed by temperature and high pressure into what we humans have come to call marble. This creates a polished surface with a glossy finish. Generally, quartzite is more granular, but it can also be polished until it becomes a smooth surface that feels like marble.
Look and feel:
Marble and quartzite have their appearance and texture in common. The neutral-looking color palette and even pattern known as the “veins” are characteristic of both materials. They are both available in subtle neutral tones and with powerful-looking “veins or flames.
Added value:

The main difference, hardness of marble and hardness of quartzite:
One of the main differences between these materials is hardness. While marble is known as a durable type of natural stone, quartzite is much harder. In most situations, this is also reflected in the price. If you are looking for a tremendously hard material, quartzite might be perfect. You might think but why is Quartzite more expensive than Marble? Good question. First, because it is a more exclusive material, but also because it is much more difficult to work with. In fact, not all stone suppliers can customize quartzite. At Bespoke 1988, we often work with quartzite, and we also do this with extreme precision.
Maintenance of marble and quartzite:
Please keep maintanance of your material in mind by making the choice. Because once you start using your countertop, the maintenance of your stone must also begin. Of course, you have to do your daily maintenance, but in addition you have to do periodic maintenance. Obviously, we at Bespoke 1988 offer the ability to do this regular maintenance for our clients, but please note, Marble requires much more maintenance. In the case of quartzite, wiping with a damp cloth will suffice in most cases. To keep your marble or quartzite in good condition, both stone formations must be replaced over the years to keep this beautiful natural stone in the best possible condition.
